DIY List

Inspired by my cousin Kirsten's blog, This Domestic Life, I created a DIY list, since I have tons of things I want to do, I just need to put them down in order for them to get done. Some are crafty, some are practical, but all of them need to be done.

1. Finish my honeymoon scrapbook - we went on our honeymoon almost 3 years ago (we did a belated honeymoon) to Cabo san Lucas, Mexico, and I've yet to finish the book. I've gotten about 75% of it done, but it was kind of a pain to finish since it's an 8" x 8" book, so I had to cut all of the paper pages down from 12" x 12" to do that.

DONE! 2. Finish pregnancy scrapbook pages with letters - I took photos of my belly every week during my pregnancy. I also wrote a couple of letters to Santi when he was in there. I started the pages and finished up to my 6th month of pregnancy. But after that, I stopped.

3. Create Santi's first year photo book - I have one book filled up with photos through month 4. I need to finish the other two books.

DONE! 4. Create a "Who's My Family" mini-scrapbook for Santi - all of Santi's family, aside from my brother, are from out of state and country. He's met a good chunk of them and we have photos of him with most of them (and will have more in about a month when we go home and meet my side of the family.) So my plan is to put together a mini-scrapbook (4" x 4" or so) with each family member on a page (hopefully in a photo with him) and I'll put their names and then journal the details of the meeting. We have several photos around the house already and he'll look at them sometimes, and we also have a frame up in his room that is solely photos of him with his family (we're going to need to get another one!) but I'd like something we can bring with us and have on his bookshelf. You can see the book here in this post!

DONE! 5. Work on Santi's baby book - I got this book and have been updating it pretty regularly. I'm about 75% done. Just need to add in some info, photos and cards and his first lock of hair, etc.

DONE! 6. Work on Santi's birthday book - this is a neat book I got for his first birthday. It's specifically for birthdays, so I just need to put in info and photos from his first birthday.

7. Create slipcovers for our dining room chair pads - I bought these chair pads from Ikea a few years ago and they are white. Normally not an issue but they have seen their share of food being dropped on them, and now that I have two toddlers, they seem to need to be washed more than they used to. I'd like to create some slip covers for them to not only hide the darkening white fabric, but be easy to slip off and wash when needed. The plan is to follow this tutorial to create the pattern and go from there.

8. Create a no-sew table runner for our buffet in the dining area - I like this one that I found on u-create (which is an awesome site if you haven't seen it yet!)

9. Make a strip quilt
- like this one (also found on u-create!) for Santi and Gaby.

DONE! 10. Work on Gaby's baby book -  I got this book (the same as Santi's) and need to fill it out up to date each month.

DONE!  11. Work on Gaby's belly book - I bought a scrapbook and have been taking photos fairly regularly throughout the pregnancy.

12. Create Santi's "Big Brother" photo book - I have a friend who gave me a book for Santi to carry with him and I haven't had a chance to print out photos yet.

13. Work on Gaby's photo album over her first year - I've bought Shutterfly books with Groupons, so I just need to create them online and order them!

14. Back up all photos and organize on DVD's - I have figured I'd do this by folder on my computer rather than years because it'd be too hard since I didn't organize them that way to begin with.

15. Back up and organize all videos of Santi and Gaby onto DVD - I've got SO many Santi videos I need to organize and back up and will have the same for Gaby so I need to get started on this.

DONE!  16. Create a garden in our backyard - Since we own a house now, it's time to put our stamp on it. For me this means a flower and veggie garden, as well as some landscaping in the front and back of the house.

17. Create some sort of handprint/footprint project for our house - I'd like to do something where we can have a stone or something outside with our families handprints on it, but something that is moveable that we could bring with us when we eventually move.
